BELURAN : A woman was killed while her son sustained minor injury after they were hit by a four-wheel-drive vehicle at the roadside about 10 KM from town here last Friday night.
The driver of the 4WD apparently lost control of the vehicle and rammed into 38-year-old Kamisah Binti Raiman and her son at about 8.30pm.
The woman died at the scene while the child was rushed to the Beluran district hospital for treatment. Her body was later sent to the hospital by the cops.
Police have detained the 24-year-old driver to facilitate investigation.
It was learnt that the driver was heading towards Beluran when the accident occurred.
Meanwhile in an unrelated development, Beluran police arrested a foreigner in his 30s, and recovered two stolen motorcycles at an oil palm plantation some 50 KM from town on Sunday night.
The bikes were reported stolen last month. The suspect was being detained for further investigations. – JAMES LEONG
